Long Way Down

Image
survived? survived! Here I am today, writing a conclusion on how my second quarter as a student went by. The start of the second quarter feels like yesterday, I never thought it would end that fast. Like the first quarter, this second quarter was also full of new experiences, each day, there were obstacles yet, I managed to overcome those. With the challenges, I learned something new, and for sure it can help me in the future. I may not check all the boxes, but still, I know to myself that I have gained new knowledge.  In our Information and Communication Technology class under Mrs. Vera Cruz, I learned a lot. I remember those moments when Ma’am Eve would ask us to apply the tags and attributes on the Notepad, and then observe what would happen. I was so amazed to the point that I would leave the room with a smile on my face, knowing that I learned and enjoyed the lessons at the same time. There was also a time when I couldn’t make the different tags work but, Ma’am Eve was there t...

Man of his Letters

Image
Last June 19, 1861, from 11 pm to 12 am in Calamba, Laguna, a man who freed our country from the Spaniards was born. Doctor Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonzo Realonda is the National Hero who used his pen and his powerful words to wake up the senses of Filipinos after approximately 333 years of sleeping. It was he who saved the Filipinos without any violent rebellion.  With the help of Maximo Viola, the best friend of Rizal in Europe, he published the work Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not) last 1887 in Berlin, Germany. This novel was dedicated to his Inang Bayan, unveiling the evil deeds of the Spaniards toward the Filipinos. After the Noli Me Tangere, he then published El Filibusterismo (The Reign of the Greed) last 1891 in Ghent, Belgium. His second novel was addressed to the three friars known as GOMBURZA, exposing the social injustice, indecency, and struggle for freedom. His plan was successful. He opened the eyes of the Filipinos but sadly, he had to give up his life for the ...

All hail, Vigan City!

Image
The extraordinary architectural synthesis of colonial Spanish and Philippine building types resulted in the formation of a distinct townscape and culture that is unparalleled in Southeast Asia. Its name is derived from the word 'Biga', which alludes to a huge taro plant that grows along the Mestizo River. Although you can visit Vigan anytime, the most ideal time to visit Vigan is during the festival. Every year, on January 25th, for a week, the city is filled with celebration. On different days, Vigan City has a lot of shows to offer just as BigueƱo Youth Day involving traditional games, Advocacy Parade, and more. Aside from that, we also have an Agriculture Day, Education Day, the Vigan City Fiesta, and more. This celebration is done to honor and remember Saint Paul, Vigan City’s patron saint.  First and foremost,  may I introduce to you the Vigan Cathedral. It is an old church that was built in front of Plaza Salcedo and beside Plaza Burgos. This church is known for its Baro...

Viva La Vida

As the clock's arms restart... Another Year has come to our lives again, people often think of having their own New Year's resolution. Some people use their New Year's resolution as a base on how their life would be this year. Like if they fail to fulfill their resolution/s it would bring bad luck to their life, and vice versa. But whatever it is, Life will go on, whether you fulfill those or not, and that's the reality. “Run for your dream”  We all have dreams, they can be small or big. Dreams that may be hard to achieve but, for sure someday it will be worth it. This song fuels my determination to pursue my aspirations, assuring me that by running on the path that I chose, I can indeed achieve them by time. In navigating your journey and overcoming obstacles, refrain from lingering on the sources of your pain. Keep in mind that ahead of you lies a path with more light than darkness. “‘cause there ain’t no need to hurry, no one ever said that there’s an easy way” Life ...
