Research isn’t new to me since it was already introduced to us when we were in grade 9. However, it was my first time conducting community-based research, it was tasked to us by Ma’am Vera Cruz as our Performance task.   Beforehand, Ma’am Vera Cruz grouped us into seven groups, according to our municipalities. But since there were only a few of us who were from Santo Domingo and Magsingal, she added two more from Santa Catalina and grouped us as one. Our group then was named “International.” Moreover, the municipality of Santa Catalina was our focus, particularly on Livelihood and Economics. When we were working together, there were things that I observed, like how communication properly works. I know that without communication, this study and the web page would not be successful. In other words, one of the greatest ways to do better work is to interact with your group mates. In this journey, we had ups and downs, from conceptualizing to making the web page. I remember being worrie...

Another roller coaster  ride has come to an end. It was so fast that I never thought I would welcome another chapter of this book again. Before I close my 3rd chapter of this S.Y 2023-2024, let’s talk about my experiences on how I danced with the waves brought by this quarter. In our ICT, performing the HTML Tables, Frames, and Lists on the notepad was what I learned. The truth is, I am not really into programming; it’s not my forte, but when I did the hands-on activities given to us, I enjoyed making them. There were troubles while making those but, thanks to my seatmate and ma’am Eve who always taught me to fix those. On our hard-core subjects like Basic Electronics, Science, Math, English, and Research, it may be hard to keep up sometimes, but I know I am improving in dealing with these. Honestly, our lessons in Math this quarter excited me. 3rd quarter Science lessons got my heart because I am into Biology. In Basic Electronics, sometimes it's hard to understand the concept but...

The high school day is the most anticipated day for many students. This 122nd Anniversary of Ilocos Sur National High School started with a parade, followed by a field demonstration, and lastly a concert.   The parade started at ISNHS and also ended there. Every moment was fun, even though the route of ours was that far for some to endure. We reached the school with all smiles and laughter. As the MC called our section, we shouted “All is well, Maxwell!” lungs out.  We then proceeded to our classroom and prepared for the next activity, which was a field demonstration. With the sun shining so bright as it was also celebrating with us, students in different grade levels competed with each other, showcasing our talents in dancing with our chosen festival. As we danced and swayed with our smiles, Grade 10 boys were announced as the champions and Grade 10 girls garnered the 3rd spot. Despite that, it didn’t reduce my excitement, and the high school day must go on. Subsequently, we ...

Path to Progress

They have experienced a lot of this society. Before and even now, women are usually discriminated against because, as they say, if you are a woman you can’t do anything, that you can’t do what the other sex can. Long ago, women were treated unfairly, they could only stay at their houses doing chores while waiting for their husbands to go home. But as time passed by, I can’t deny that our society has improved. Women now have their rights. According to the Philippine Commission on Women, the Magna Carta of Women (MWC) is a comprehensive law on women’s human rights that aims to abolish discrimination by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling, and promoting the rights of Filipino women, particularly those from marginalized groups in society. Additionally, according to the Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines, RA 6725 forbids discrimination in employment terms and conditions based only on sex. Under this rule, any employer who favors a male employee over a female in terms of pro...
